Production and Sales Results
Mazda’s production and sales results for November 2006 show that domestic production has exceeded that for the same month in the previous year for 13 consecutive months since November 2005. Export figures have also exceeded those from the same month in the previous year for 16 consecutive months since August 2005. November 2006 was the single best month for both domestic production and exports in the last ten years.
I. Domestic Production
Due to increased production volumes of CX-7, Mazda3 and Mazda5, domestic production volumes exceeded those for the same month last year, up 3.5% on November 2005. The Hofu Plant had a monthly production record of 47,771 units in November, which is a 4.6% increase over the same period last year.
II. Domestic Sales
Domestic sales volumes decreased year-on-year, down 5.6%. Due to steady sales of Mazda3 and Verisa, registered passenger vehicle sales increased (up +0.2%) for the first time in 17 months since June 2005. Mazda’s registered vehicle market share in Japan was 5.3% (up +0.1 points over November 2005), with a 2.0% market share (-0.4 points) for the micro-mini segment and a 4.1% total market share, down 0.1 points compared to last year’s result.
III. Exports
November 2006 exports exceeded those of November 2005, up 14.8% year-on-year due to increased Mazda3 and CX-7 exports. On a market basis, exports to North America were strong, reaching 25,638 units (up 51.9% year-on-year), mostly attributable to increased exports of the Mazda3 and CX-7.
IV. Overseas Production
Note: Overseas production units are calculated based on the parts and component shipments for Mazda brand models to be assembled at overseas production facilities.
Overseas production was down 6.6% year-on-year. Although overseas production of the BT-50 truck remained steady at 7,216 units (up 23.0% year-on-year), overseas production of the Mazda6 and Mazda3 declined. On a country basis, production of the BT-50 truck in Thailand was steady at 3,816 units, up 10.1% compared to November 2005. |
